What do I do outside of coaching?
Why choose me as your partner in success?
I’m a thinking partner, a mirror that really sees you and sometimes the elbow that nudges you along. I don’t tell you what to do, but as we explore challenges and opportunities, I will support you to find a way forward that works for you. I’m like a gold digger. We start with what matters to you, and together we discover the gold.
I’m easy to talk to and a really good listener. I can put myself in your shoes, no matter the size or style. I am naturally curious, so I’ll ask incisive questions and gently challenge you to get to the heart of the situation.
I came to coaching from a career in dispute resolution - as a lawyer and a mediator. I see coaching as a way to resolve the conflict between who you are being and who you want to be. Change is scary. It is scary when it happens to you, and it is even scarier when you make it happen. Let’s be scared together.
International Coaching Federation
Coaching is an unregulated industry, and I believe that coaches should be held to high standards. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) sets the gold standard for coaching globally. As an ICF credentialed coach, I have been rigorously trained and mentored. I’ve passed an exam, and my coaching skills have been evaluated by more experienced coaches.
As an ICF coach, I also voluntarily bind myself to the ICF Code of Ethics. The ICF also requires me to continuously learn and grow, so I continue to become a better coach.
I am also involved in the ICF in New Zealand, where I have served on the leadership team since 2024 and am currently the President Elect.
Why do I coach?
My first year as a new manager was exciting but also challenging and confusing. I wish I had had a coach - someone who could listen to my concerns without judgment, help me sort through the noise to find a way forward and support me as I developed my leadership style. As Gandhi said - be the change you want to see. I became a coach, so I could provide the support I didn’t have.
I enjoy exploring how people think and act. Humans are fun to understand and work with. I am a values driven person, so I enjoy helping people explore what is important to them and living a values driven life.
I am an avid trier of new things. Whether it is the newest Whittaker’s bar or a new holiday destination, I am eager to try it out. I am a qualified pastry chef, and I love to bake. And, I generally love food, so I am always looking for new restaurants to try and new recipes to taste test. I moved to New Zealand in 2016 and discovered a love of coastal walks. I live near the south coast on the North Island, so you’ll often find me walking there. Sometimes, I’ll be listening to a podcast - either the New York times or a favorite coach, and sometimes I will just look out on the water and contemplate life.
